witnesses

Weaving bits of some of my favourite hymns that I’d re-learnt and newly learnt at Bermondsey Gospel Hall over these two weeks. Thank you for sharing with me the simplicity of a fellowship so grounded in the unfathomable love we have all received. 💖

the golden sunshine, vernal air,
sweet flowers and fruit, Thy love declare;

she joins all nature in manifold witness,
to Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love;

to Thou who givest all,
upon us all 😊✨

stepping stones

Tuesday, 11 July 2017
Edinburgh, Scotland

step by step,
down the grey gradients
of the streets stone after

stone; streets that grow upward with
strides forward,
streets built on the spine of
weathered rocks.
through the laneways,
the wynds and the closes;
past buildings the colour of
burnt, faded roses,
buildings the colour of
muted sand and stone.
brown buildings, further browned
by the brush of time stone after

stone; with round-the-bend
discoveries and fingertip ones,
we learn to learn and
learn to be taught by His world,
step by step 🐾

ysanne, beatrice and jereme prayed for a rainbow on the tuktuk but God gave three! 😊a promise to the Hebrew patriarch,
a tinted reminder unto me:
beyond the arcs across the sky,
Eternal Love, He lovest me 💖

seven-hued reminders that He remembers🌈:”I have set My rainbow in the clouds… whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember My covenant between Me and you and all living creatures of every kind.” Genesis 9:13-15

BASIC Camp Day 2 – Candlelight Reflection under the Stars

Little lights we are, we hold in our hands,
Under greater lights we ponder,
We stand and understand;
Great lights and little lights, lovest all Thee,
Our God who is light: we all shine for Thee 🌟

vision

of the things I cannot see,
not one escapes Your eye;

of the things I think I see,
You see a farther sight;

so for the things I need to see,
open wide my eye;

and for the things so difficult to see,
I hold them up in Your great light ✨

tonight, God’s comfort for the nervous wreck of myself came in the form of this poem, which He had graciously allowed me to complete. based on John 6:67-69 and John 21:15-17 (and a stroke of inspiration midway during a hymn we sung this morning ◡̈)

You asked me, O Lord, “Lovest thou Me?”
but ’tis Thou who loves, O Lord;
Thou lovest me ❤️
And if You ask, “Will ye also go away?”
Lord, to whom shall I go?
Thou hast the words of eternal life;
Leave Thee and I have nothing,
Follow Thee, and I gain everything 🌎
For I believe, I am sure that Thou art that Christ,
that Thou art the Son of the living God;
Thou knowest the way for me,
Thou hast the way for me,
Thou art the way for me 😊🌟

ever-wise, ever-loving, ever-kind;

all that I don’t think I could ever be.

I love you even though I don’t completely understand;

You love me more than I could ever understand.

I love you, and sometimes it just becomes difficult to say;

You love me even when there is no sense nor love in all that I have to say.

I love you mama; I love you, I love you, I love you and I don’t know if these words make sense, but know that some part of me means it even if I don’t fully understand, and know that I don’t ever want to imagine a day where I can no longer reach for your hand.

because i’m not so creative to come up with things in 2-minutes, i usually pluck ideas and concepts from here and there and try to put my own ring to it! read If On a Winter’s Night a Traveler by Calvino himself for the full deal (and a really mindblowing time) happy wednesday everyone ◡̈

between us
all that is read is non-sense, nonsense
yet
between the lines
all that is unread is sense-ible, sensible

because
we speak about things that do not matter
because
what matters is that we speak.

the rest in my restlessness 🌪

O crashing waves crash
down on me,
that I may hear Him hush you now;

“O blessed hurricane” throw my
feet off the ground,
that at my Lord’s feet I may be found;

O rushing currents lead me,
amidst the urgency of this life,
lead me to the Rock that is
higher than i.
